IAPD – The Performance Plastics Association represents the performance plastics industry, bringing together distributors, manufacturers, fabricators, manufacturers’ representatives and service providers to advance the industry through education, networking and advocacy.

Our team supports a wide range of in-person and virtual programs throughout the year, including conventions, leadership programs, webinars, committee meetings and industry events across North America.

Position Overview

IAPD is seeking an Educational & Events Program Manager to support the planning and execution of meetings, education programs and member engagement initiatives.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, self-directed professional who enjoys managing the details behind successful events, and building/executing virtual educational programming. The Educational & Events Program Manager will play a key role in registration management, webinar administration, learning management system administration, reporting, customer service and supporting the day-to-day coordination of the association’s meetings and educational offerings.

While this position includes some travel for on-site event support, the primary focus of the role is program management and administration from IAPD headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas. This individual should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities and proactively identifying solutions to challenges as they arise.

The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, technically capable and takes pride in delivering a high level of service to members, speakers, sponsors and volunteers.

Who Would Be a Good Fit

The ideal candidate brings experience supporting both meetings/events and educational programming, or strong experience in one area paired with genuine professional interest in developing expertise in the other. This role is designed for someone who is excited by the opportunity to work across multiple areas of association programming, including in-person events, virtual education, webinar administration, course development and committee management.

IAPD is willing to train the right candidate on software platforms, workflows and organizational processes that support both educational programming and meetings/events management. The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable and enthusiastic about continuing to build skills across both sides of the role while contributing as a collaborative member of a small, fast-paced association team.

This role also works closely with multiple volunteer committees and task forces throughout the year. The ideal candidate should be comfortable communicating professionally with volunteer leaders, managing timelines and agendas and helping keep committee initiatives moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

Meetings & Event Program Management

  • Support the planning and execution of 30+ conferences, regional meetings, leadership programs and virtual events annually
  • Manage registration processes through CVENT, iMIS and LMS platforms, including attendee updates, reporting, troubleshooting and customer service
  • Coordinate event logistics including speaker communication, food and beverage details, audiovisual coordination, shipping and printing
  • Maintain accurate event records, digital files and reporting documentation for all meetings and programs
  • Assist with exhibitor and sponsor fulfillment logistics as needed
  • Support on-site event execution, registration and program logistics during multi-day events throughout the year
  • Track event deadlines, timelines and deliverables to ensure successful execution
  • Serve as staff liaison and project manager for assigned committees and task forces, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and supporting ongoing initiatives

Educational Programming & LMS Administration

  • Serve as the lead administrator for webinar and virtual education programming
  • Manage webinar setup, registration integration, reporting, recordings and attendee communication
  • Assist in the development and administration of online learning and leadership programs
  • Convert printed course materials/content and/or migrate existing webinars into virtual learning experiences and self-paced online courses
  • Collaborate with member volunteers and committees on building new educational programming
  • Maintain education records, attendance tracking and post-program reporting
  • Experience with TopClass and/or Articulate 360 is a plus

Reporting & Systems Management

  • Become a primary internal expert in IAPD systems including iMIS, CVENT, LMS platforms and payment processing systems
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports related to meetings, registrations and education programs
  • Maintain organized tracking systems and documentation
  • Identify process improvements and recommend efficiencies to leadership

Member & Customer Support

  • Provide professional, responsive customer service to members, attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and volunteers
  • Respond to registration questions, payment inquiries and program-related requests in a timely and solutions-oriented manner
  • Serve as a dependable resource while leadership is traveling

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in association management, meetings/events, educational program administration or similar
  • Experience working independently in a professional office environment with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to remain composed and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues, communicate concerns and recommend solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with CRM, AMS, LMS and event registration systems preferred
  • Experience managing webinars or virtual education programs strongly preferred
  • Experience using AI-powered tools and emerging technologies in a professional setting required, including comfort learning new platforms and applying technology to improve efficiency and workflow management
  • Willingness to travel several times per year for multi-day events and conferences

About the Education Specialist Role: 

The Education Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for the association’s certificate programs and workshops. They work with Subject Matter Experts to develop, design, update, and deliver engaging educational programs.

The ideal candidate will have exemplary customer services skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, well versed in and able to efficiently use various technology, and be comfortable in a fast-paced setting working with a wide variety of internal and external customers.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Sales Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of existing business relationships while also driving top‑of‑funnel prospecting and lead generation to support the broader sales team. This role supports business development efforts across multiple products by executing targeted prospecting initiatives, qualifying inbound and outbound leads, identifying opportunities to cross‑sell and upsell within existing accounts, and closing business for defined products. The Sales Specialist vets leads and opportunities, aligns prospects to appropriate engagement channels, and delivers qualified leads to senior sales team members for further development. In parallel, the role ensures strong operational support and relationship management for an assigned portfolio of business relationships. This position works closely with internal stakeholders to align sales activities with marketing initiatives, manage customer deliverables, and ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and communication throughout the customer and contract lifecycle. The Sales Specialist reports to the Senior Manager, Business Development, Strategic Engagements.

Job Specific Skills:

Prospecting & Lead Generation (Top-of-Funnel)

  • Proactively drive prospecting initiatives to identify and engage new industry customers across assigned product lines.
  • Conduct outbound outreach to new prospects and re-engage contacts within AAFP’s existing network.
  • Respond to and triage all inbound inquiries, ensuring timely engagement and appropriate routing.
  • Lead exploratory sales calls to understand prospect business goals, assess fit, and recommend appropriate engagement channels.
  • Vet, qualify, and document leads, including:
    • Closing business for assigned products
    • Delivering qualified opportunities for other defined products to senior sales team members for further development.
  • Collaborate with marketing on coordinated outreach campaigns, follow-ups, and prospecting initiatives.

Portfolio & Relationship Management (Existing Business)

  • Manage assigned affinity program relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for operational and performance-related needs.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs), including preparation and presentation of performance metrics, activation summaries, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Track current and upcoming partner activations; coordinate timelines and deliverables with partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain partner benefit details, ensure accurate execution of contracted benefits, and support revenue share reporting.
  • Support partner retention and growth through proactive communication, cross-sell and upsell identification, and issue resolution.

Partnership Growth & Strategic Support

  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, Business Development, support growth of assigned programs in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Conduct market research and contribute to prospective proposals and pitch materials.

Sales Operations & Reporting

  • Support internal sales operations for assigned products, including:
    • Contract tracking and coordination
    • Invoicing support and follow-up
    • Monitoring performance metrics against contractual terms
    • Tracking pipeline activity and revenue
    • Maintaining sales pace and performance reports
  • Leverage CRM (HubSpot) to ensure accurate documentation of sales activity, customer details, and pipelines status.
  • Maintain clean, accurate, and up-to-date records, reports, and documentation for the assigned portfolio of business in designated systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration          

Actively participate in internal sales meetings and cross-functional program management discussions.
