Communication plays a key role in the success of any organization. This year, KCSAE is focused on increased communication between its volunteer leaders and members. Did you know that KCSAE offers over ten committees and special interest groups (SIG’s) which you can participate? Are you aware of each committee’s role and their goals and projects for the 2016-2017 year? This year, the board of directors is aimed on ensuring volunteer leaders and members are aware of the association’s volunteer offerings and how to get involved.

Strong communication starts with the board of directors. Each board member is a board liaison to the Chair(s) one of KCSAE’s committees or SIG’s. They are in constant communication regarding board initiatives and directives for the year. This channel provides a direct line of communication. From there, the committee chairs work closely with their committees to execute the association’s strategic priorities.

Although each committee and SIG is working on their own tasks, it’s important to maintain communication between the committees and SIG’s as well. Quarterly, the committee and SIG chairs get together to discuss initiatives, brainstorm new ideas and share successes from recent projects and events. This cross-collaboration approach allows committees to work on board initiatives together and eliminate duplication of efforts. In addition, KCSAE has experienced fresh perspective as well as incredibly innovative ideas.

If you’re interested in learning more about KCSAE committees and SIGs, have ideas you’d like to share or interested in getting more involved in KCSAE, we encourage you to attend. The next volunteer leader meeting will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the National Auctioneer Association (NAA) office in Overland Park, KS. Please let me or Cynthia Edmunds know if you’re interested in attending. We look forward to seeing you there!
